Marriage is a cornerstone in many Middle Eastern and North African countries. Among 11 countries in the region, Algerian and Tunisian have the oldest brides (28.3 and 28.2 years old respectively) and grooms (32.4 and 32.9 years old respectively), according to the latest data collected by the United Nations Population Division (UNPD).
Whereas Palestinian women make the youngest brides (22.5 years old), and Yemeni men (26.1 years old) make the youngest grooms.
Egypt, however, lies in between where most women getting married before their 25th birthday. On the other hand, Egyptian men make the third youngest grooms in the region.
Interestingly, women in the three Gulf countries get married in their mid-20s on average contrary to popular belief.
